Architectural Digest magazine has called Calgary’s newest library branch one of the most anticipated buildings on the planet for 2018. In 2013, Snøhetta and DIALOG’s competition-winning design was selected for the new Calgary Public Library. The design realizes the city’s vision for a technologically advanced public space for innovation, research and collaboration at the intersection of Downtown Calgary and East Village. Fast-forward to 2018 and now this spectacular downtown Calgary space is open! It boasts 240,000 square feet of amazing architecture on four floors. It’s loaded with learning spaces and 450,000 new books and collections.
Our Calgary team was proud to have installed the building’s hardwood flooring and its stairwork. The building has been described as ‘wave of wood’. That’s partly due to the walls, but the flooring also adds to this vision considerably. All the flooring is Rift Sawn White Oak with an impregnated low sheen acrylic to protect it. It makes quite a visual statement as you can see for yourself!
